The Liberty Men’s Wrestling team just released their 2022 to 2023 season schedule. It is an action packed schedule making the team travel to a few new spots.
First the team kicks of their season at the Messiah Invitational in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on November 5. They stay relatively local as they go To Averett University to wrestle in the Cougar Open on November 13. The following weekend, November 19 they travel to Missouri to participate in the Lindenwood Open.
The team has their first head to head match up at the Blithe Duals in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 2 and 3. Next the travel team will take the bus to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where they will encounter tough competition at the Citrus Classic. That is the weekend of December 29 and 30. The first weekend in 2023 they will wrestle at the National event in Louisville, Kentucky. This will be the toughest part of the season for the team.
Liberty will wrestle in Virginia Beach in the Virginia Duals on January 13 and 14. They travel to Norfolk for the Shipbuilder Invite on January 27 and 28. The Messiah Open is on February 4 in Grantham, Pennsylvania. The team gets a travel break as Liberty will host a home event against West Virginia on February 11. The Mid Atlantic Conference will also be in Lynchburg on February 25, so Flames fans clear your calendars. Lastly the National Collegiate Wrestling Championships will be held on March 9,10, and 11 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Liberty is looking to send it’s 6 national champions, and more, back to the big stage this year. Although the year looks promising, the competition will be tough. Schools such as Queens College, Bellarmine University, and Lindenwood University are transitioning to division 1 schools, meaning they are in the same running for national champions as Liberty. Strength, grit, and mental toughness will be crucial for this Liberty men’s team as they compete.
Travel will be much harder this year for the team. With nearly double the number of guys traveling, Liberty will have to take a bus to each location.
Although few situations and problems stand in Liberty’s way, they have their priorities straight and eyes focused for that beautiful stay in Puerto Rico.
